Founded in 2018, EUTOPIA is building a long-term and transformative alliance of challenge-led, student-centred, entrepreneurial, and change-focused universities. Our 10 like-minded universities have built powerful connections across our communities, institutional structures, and local industry. This is helping EUTOPIA transform how Europe addresses global challenges through collaborative research, increased mobility of students and staff, and advocating for innovation.

EUTOPIA for ResearchersLink opens in a new window
We have common research themes and networks so researchers can develop projects that tackle global challenges. EUTOPIA offers a range of funding opportunities including postdoc and PhD scholarships, alongside pump priming funding to facilitate the formation of networks and projects that tackle global challenges.
EUTOPIA for EducatorsLink opens in a new window
EUTOPIA’s Connected Communities encourage the application of knowledge and theory to real-world problems and promote pedagogical excellence. These communities bring together staff, students, and stakeholders in cross-campus learning and teaching activities.
EUTOPIA for StudentsLink opens in a new window
The alliance is student centred and empowered, and provides transformative, open-learning opportunities, and extends students’ horizons, expectations, and abilities. There are many opportunities for students to get involved in EUTOPIA activities so join the Warwick EUTOPIA Student Network to hear about these first.

We value the innovation and opportunities that being one of 10 European universities brings to research and education. Below are a few case studies from our collaborative initiatives.
EUTOPIA Connected Learning Communities
Since 2020, academic communities within EUTOPIA – an alliance of 10 institutions from European countries – have been organising cross-campus activities for students. The ambition of the communities is to develop students with intercultural skills, international networks, and global relationships. Students are at the heart of the activities, and they shape their own learning outcomes.
EUTOPIA Co-tutelle
The EUTOPIA’s PhD Co-tutelle Programme offers joint PhDs, of three to four years, at contributing EUTOPIA universities. The programme promotes high-quality research projects with global impact and provides exciting research opportunities for PhD candidates.
